Ian Mac Intire Success Story

When Ian applied for services on 4/22/14, he reported that his largest barriers to employment were due to the extreme anxiety that leads into Agoraphobia and his learning disability. Ian was diagnosed with Chronic Anxiety, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Major Depressive Disorder, Specific Learning Disability and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder.

Ian took extra time to consider appropriate decisions to make in his case, so he would have a successful employment outcome as he had a very limited work history when he applied for services and needed to think about what vocational options he wanted to pursue.

He finally decided to pursue janitorial work and he participated in a janitorial work assessment at Opportunity Village to confirm this was the right decision for him. He proved in this assessment that he was ready for competitive employment performing this type of work, due to him demonstrating that he was punctual, had good productivity,  good quality of work and he accepted feedback from Supervisors in a positive manner.

He was referred to a Job Developer for assistance with obtaining a job and, on 12/2/14, he was placed at Complex Care Hospital at Tenaya as a janitor.  He is still employed there and earns $11.25 an hour for 40 hours a week, with medical benefits if he chooses to have them.

He has thanked his Rehabilitation Counselor for her support and assistance in obtaining and maintaining this job.
